At Habitat for Humanity of Kanawha & Putnam, our mission is to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through housing. We are thrilled to announce our latest endeavor: the construction of a new home at 908 Grant Street in Charleston, WV. This effort is not just about building a house; it’s about fostering community growth and revitalizing a historic neighborhood.

The Vision for 908 Grant Street

The 908 Grant Street home marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to provide affordable, quality housing to families in need. Located in Charleston’s West Side, this new home is part of a broader initiative to rejuvenate the area, bringing hope and opportunity to its residents.

  • Beneficiaries: The homebuyer family will be selected through an application and orientation process

A Collaborative Effort

This home is a result of our strong collaboration with the Charleston Land Reuse Agency. On April 26, 2024, the CLRA executed a deed transferring the lot at 908 Grant Street to Habitat for Humanity. This partnership exemplifies the community's collective commitment to revitalizing the neighborhood and providing affordable housing options.

The CLRA has also offered financial incentives to help offset some construction costs. However, to fully realize our vision, we need additional support from volunteers and donors.

We are excited to officially kick off the 908 Grant Street home with a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
