Friday, October 6th and Saturday, October 7th, Wells Fargo is sending 15 employees to don their work clothes to help build a house for a family in need of a hand up.
The volunteers will be working at our current build site in North Charleston, but Wells Fargo is going a step further; The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation is also donating $10,000 to help buy supplies and build future homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
“We are fortunate to partner with Habitat for Humanity on this project to improve the quality of life for residents in our community. Working together we can create safe, affordable housing and fulfill the dream of homeownership for residents in the communities where we work and live,” said Charles Capito, Wells Fargo’s Senior Vice President, West Virginia Complex Manager.
Made possible in-part by funding provided through the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation and team member donations, Wells Fargo is participating in several such efforts across the country this year. The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation supports local neighborhood revitalization initiatives, with local nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity of Kanawha & Putnam, to construct, repair and rehabilitate affordable housing.
In 2016, the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation donated nearly $20 million in support of affordable housing initiatives serving low-and moderate-income households – including for seniors, veterans, and families – through community revitalization efforts. Since its inception in 1993, the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation has invested more than $190 million to such efforts, along with mobilizing more than 4.78 million team member volunteer hours to build and rehabilitate more than 7,600 homes.
“Habitat for Humanity’s neighborhood revitalization efforts rely on partnerships with organizations like Wells Fargo to solve a variety of issues associated with blighted neighborhoods throughout the country,” said Shawn Means, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity. “With the support of great partners like Wells Fargo, we hope these efforts will have a ripple effect in communities—showcasing that when we work together small changes can make a big impact.”
